Render the shots

Each shot renders on its own, with takes and re-renders; Render shots asks which ones, at what price, then renders linked shots in order.

Render a shot from its card, a scene from its header, or the film with Render shots: it asks first which ones (the missing, the changed, or all), shows the price and roughly how long, then renders. Shots are billed one by one, so an empty wallet stops cleanly between two shots rather than halfway. A shot can have several takes; the one marked In the cut goes in the edit, and a take you remove stays in your Library.

Linked shots

A shot linked to the one before (Continue the shot, or Same scene, new angle) is built from that shot's take: its last frame is captured and sent as the start frame or the reference, so the shot waits for the previous one to finish. Re-rendering a shot, or picking another take, marks the linked shot after it so you know to render it again.

Changed since render, and the voices

A shot whose text, camera, length or look changed after its last render says so; the old take stays until you render again, nothing is discarded by itself. Engines keep one voice sample per render, so a voice can drift from shot to shot: Dub the lines reads every line of a shot again in its character's own voice and lays the track under the shot in the Edit (the shot's own sound is muted; there is no lip-sync). Every take, poster and dub of the film is in the History tab and in the film's folder.
