Establishing shot
An establishing shot is the wide frame that tells the audience where they are before the scene starts. It is usually the first shot of a sequence and often the only one that shows the whole location.
It does structural work: without it, every close-up that follows floats. One wide frame buys the viewer the geography they need to read the rest of the scene.
It is also the shot type generative engines are most reliably good at, because a wide frame with no near subject has fewer things to get anatomically wrong.
On eroq
Write "wide shot" or "establishing shot" in the prompt and the phrase highlights and sets the camera for that render, or insert it from the Syntax menu. Hailuo 3, with its 2K frame and convincing physics, suits weather and scale; in Cinema this is usually the first shot of a scene.
Questions
How do I ask for an establishing shot?
Type "wide shot" or "establishing shot" in the prompt — the phrase is detected, highlighted and applied. The Syntax menu inserts the same words if you would rather click.
Which engine handles wide landscapes best?
Hailuo 3 for weather and scale, at 2K with convincing physics. Seedance 2.5 and Wan 3.0 go longer — up to 30 seconds — if the shot needs more than fifteen.
Should a film open on an establishing shot?
It is the safe default, and it is cheap insurance: one wide frame lets every close-up that follows land in a place the viewer already understands.
