Contre-jour

Contre-jour is backlighting: the light source sits behind the subject, producing a rim-light halo, silhouettes and lens glow. It is the classic golden-hour look.

It flatters hair and outlines, hides detail in the face unless filled, and reads as romantic or epic depending on tempo.

Questions

How do I prompt backlighting?

Pick the Contre-jour preset or write "backlit, rim light halo, lens glow".

Does contre-jour work on video as well as images?

Yes — the lighting rack applies to both, and the same preset rides the lighting parameter on image and video generations. In motion, keep the move slow enough for the rim light to stay readable.

How do I stop the face going completely dark?

Ask for fill — a reflector, a practical lamp in frame, "soft fill on the face" — or switch to the Soft cross preset. Contre-jour keeps detail out of the face by design; that is what makes it a silhouette look.
