Comparison

Seedance 2.0 Fast vs Hailuo 3 Max

The Hobby plan adds Veo 3.1 Fast, Kling 3.0, Seedance 2.0 Fast, Hailuo 3 Max and Wan 3.0 to the engines every account has. Seedance 2.0 Fast and Hailuo 3 Max are two of its fast tiers, and they differ most in what they read. Seedance 2.0 Fast is the Seedance 2.0 speed tier — seeds, native sound, first and last frames, up to six reference pictures and a character's voice sample, at 480p or 720p. Hailuo 3 Max is MiniMax's fast Hailuo tier — silent clips at 480p or 768p from a start and an end frame, with no reference pictures.

Which one to pick

  • →Block the shot on Seedance 2.0 Fast. At 480p a four-second draft is 72 credits, and the seed lets you lock a composition and keep editing the words.
  • →Cast a character on Seedance 2.0 Fast: it reads up to six reference pictures and a voice sample, where Hailuo 3 Max reads none.
  • →Silent B-roll at 768p, travelling between a start and an end frame: Hailuo 3 Max.

Questions

Which engine should I start with on the Hobby plan?

Seedance 2.0 Fast, for the controls — a seed and reference pictures — and the price: a 4-second draft at 480p is 72 credits against 110 for the shortest Hailuo 3 Max clip at 480p. Seedance 2.0 Mini, on every account, drafts for less still — 60 credits for 4 seconds.

Can I re-render a Seedance 2.0 Fast draft on Hailuo 3 Max with the same seed?

No. A seed only reproduces a take on the engine that produced it, and Hailuo 3 Max does not take one at all. Carry the prompt and the start frame across instead.

How is a clip priced on these two?

By the second, at a rate set by the resolution: 18 or 39 credits a second on Seedance 2.0 Fast (480p or 720p), 22 or 34 on Hailuo 3 Max (480p or 768p). There is no step in the curve — a 6-second clip costs six seconds — and Seedance bills its wider 21:9 and 9:21 frames about a third higher.

Do either of them reach 1080p?

Not natively — Seedance 2.0 Fast tops out at 720p and Hailuo 3 Max at 768p. Upscale, in Video › Edit, brings either clip to 1080p or 2K afterwards; or, on the same Hobby plan, Veo 3.1 Fast and Wan 3.0 render 1080p, and so does Veo 3.1 Lite on every account.
